Popover
A popover floats content next to the element that contains it. It is the building block behind menus, selects and tooltips; reach for it directly when you need a custom floating panel.
Open and close
Open is a plain parameter: you own the state. The popover anchors to its parent element, and Paper=false lets you supply your own surface.
Anchor and transform origins
AnchorOrigin picks a point on the anchor; TransformOrigin picks the point of the popover that is placed there. Six common pairs, all open at once.
Overflow behavior
Near the edge of the window a popover can flip to the opposite side. FlipOnOpen decides once, FlipAlways keeps deciding while you scroll, FlipNever stays put.
Scroll until this example sits near the bottom of the window, then open the list.
A filter panel that closes on outside click
A transparent MudOverlay behind the popover catches the outside click. The trigger reports its state with aria-expanded.
Showing: Buses, Trams
Playground
Try any combination of origins and surface options; the markup below updates with only the values that differ from the defaults.
